Extensive Firefighting Efforts in Baguio City
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Baguio City, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), effectively extinguished a fire that required the deployment of eight fire trucks and reached the third alarm level. The blaze was successfully contained after an intensive operation spanning nearly three hours.
Rising Forest Fire Concerns
The CAR has experienced a surge in forest fires since the beginning of 2024, with more than 20 incidents recorded. These fires have posed significant environmental and ecological challenges for the region.
Fire Incidents in Baguio City
From January 1 to July 17, the BFP in Baguio City recorded 63 fire incidents. Faulty electrical installations were determined to be the primary cause of these blazes.
Seasonal Increase in Fire Incidents
In the first three months of 2023, the BFP in Baguio City responded to 34 fire incidents. The dry season, which typically lasts from November to April, often sees an increase in fire occurrences.
