Northwestern University Wildcats football team secured their first win of the season in a 35-6 victory over the Columbia University Lions on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois.

Offensive Dominance for Northwestern

The Wildcats offense put up impressive numbers, amassing a total of 445 offensive yards, 211 of those coming on the ground. Running back Evan Hull led the rushing attack with 18 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Brendan Sullivan also contributed to the ground game, rushing for 48 yards and another score.

Northwestern's passing game was equally effective. Sullivan threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, completing 19 of 27 passes. Wide receiver Malik Washington was his primary target, hauling in four passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive Standout for Columbia

Despite the lopsided score, Columbia's defense put up a valiant effort. Linebacker Jeff Farris led the team with 12 tackles, including two for loss, while safety Josh Williams recorded an interception.

Looking Ahead

With the win, Northwestern improves to 1-2 on the season and will look to continue their winning ways next Saturday when they host the Indiana State Sycamores.
