Lair Jordan Michael Jordans Highland Park Mansion Finally Sold After 12 Years

Lair Jordan? Michael Jordan's Highland Park mansion finally sold after 12 years

Guess who (finally) sold his crib?

It's an end of an era for one of the most notorious properties in the Chicago area as it recently sold at 50% of its ask: $14.9 million.

The final sale price was a far cry from its original listing price of $29 million.

The Highland Park mansion has faced a rollercoaster of price drops and failed sales attempts since first being listed in 2012.

The final sale price shows just how difficult it can be to move even the most opulent of homes in a more challenging market and a sign of how far the luxury real estate market has cooled since its pandemic peak.

Built in 1995, the 56,000 square-foot mansion sits on 7 acres and features nine bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, a regulation-size basketball court, a putting green, a tennis court, a racquetball court, a gym, a cigar room, and a full-size indoor pool.

Michael Jordan bought the land in 1991 for $2.6 million but decided to build his dream home on the property four years later.

The mansion was designed by architect David Adler and took two years to complete.

Jordan moved into the mansion in 1995 and lived there until 1998.

The home was then rented out to various tenants, including rapper Kanye West, before being put up for sale in 2012.

The mansion has been on and off the market for the past 12 years, with its price being slashed several times.

The final sale price of $14.9 million is still a hefty sum, but it's a far cry from the $29 million that Jordan was originally asking for.

The sale of the mansion marks the end of an era for one of the most famous homes in the Chicago area.
