Soccer Insatiable Spain Hungry For More Says Coach De La Fuente

Soccer-Insatiable Spain hungry for more, says coach De la Fuente

Spain must maintain their relentless hunger for success after winning Euro 2022 this summer, coach Jorge Vilda has said.

La Roja have enjoyed a dominant 2022, winning all 10 of their matches and scoring 43 goals in the process.

They sealed their European Championship triumph with a 2-1 extra-time victory over hosts England at Wembley in July.

According to FIFA's latest world rankings, Spain are ranked seventh, behind the United States, Germany, England, Sweden, France and the Netherlands.

But Vilda believes his team can continue to improve and challenge the very best in the world.

"We have to keep fighting, keep improving and keep hungry," Vilda said. "We have a very young team with a lot of potential, and I think we can achieve even more in the future."

Spain will face Scotland in a friendly on Tuesday before travelling to Japan for the Kirin Cup, where they will play the hosts, Canada and Chile.

Vilda is expected to give some of his younger players a chance to impress during the tournament.

"We have a lot of depth in our squad, and I'm excited to see what some of our younger players can do," Vilda said. "We have a lot of talent in Spain, and I'm confident that we can continue to be one of the best teams in the world."

Spain will begin their 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying campaign in September, when they will face Finland, Ukraine and Malta.
